Scope of works

Scope of works

The construction scope is delivered in stages. Each one below states what it covers and which interfaces it works across.

The scope split is agreed with the investor or main contractor before mobilisation. Stages can be combined — what matters is an unambiguous boundary where our scope meets another contractor’s.

Site preparation and earthworks

Bringing the site to a condition that allows installation works to start, in line with the site layout design.

Scope of works

  • Clearing and setting out the site for module rows
  • Earthworks within the scope defined by the design
  • Haul roads and assembly areas
  • Support in setting up site facilities

Interfaces

  • Surveyor — setting out row axes and control points
  • Designer — conformity with the site layout design

Handover Site ready for piling or structure installation to begin.

Fencing, roads and drainage

The supporting infrastructure that determines site access during construction and later operation.

Scope of works

  • Fencing and gate installation to design
  • Internal roads and turning areas
  • Support for drainage works within the design scope

Interfaces

  • Main contractor — sequencing against structure installation
  • Material suppliers — delivery scheduling to site

Handover Access infrastructure ready for construction use.

Piling and mounting structures

Foundations and the load-bearing structure under the modules, to the documentation and design tolerances.

Scope of works

  • Piling or the alternative foundation solution stated in the design
  • Mounting structure installation
  • Control of row geometry and installation tolerances
  • Recording deviations and agreeing them with the designer

Interfaces

  • Surveyor — geometry and level checks
  • Structure supplier — conformity with the installation manual

Handover Structure ready for module installation, with geometry checks recorded.

Ask about this stage — Piling and mounting structures

Module installation

Installing photovoltaic modules onto the prepared structure, following module handling rules.

Scope of works

  • Distribution and installation of modules to the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Control of tightening torques and fixing method
  • Handling practices that limit the risk of damage
  • Recording rejected and damaged modules

Interfaces

  • Module supplier — warranty requirements and installation manual
  • DC team — installation sequence against cable routing

Handover Module rows installed and ready for DC works.

Ask about this stage — Module installation

DC installation

Routing the direct-current side, including connections and workmanship checks.

Scope of works

  • Routing and fixing of DC cabling
  • Making connections and verifying them
  • Cable routes and penetrations to design
  • Circuit labelling in line with the documentation

Interfaces

  • AC / station team — connection points and sequence
  • Client’s site supervision — hold points before routes are covered

Handover DC side installed and labelled, ready for testing.

Ask about this stage — DC installation

Inverter and station works

Installation and associated works at alternating-current equipment, within the scope set by the design.

Scope of works

  • Installation works at inverters and equipment structures
  • Associated works at containerised stations
  • Cable routes and penetrations around the equipment

Interfaces

  • Equipment supplier — installation and warranty requirements
  • Commissioning team — the scope passed on for testing

Handover Installation scope ready for commissioning activities.

MV cabling support

Supporting works on medium-voltage cable routes, in the scope and manner agreed with the main contractor.

Scope of works

  • Earthworks and preparation of cable routes
  • Support for cable laying within the design scope
  • Marking and site reinstatement after the works

Interfaces

  • Electrical works contractor — split of scope and responsibility
  • Surveyor — route as-built records

Handover Routes prepared and recorded as agreed.

Testing, punch list and handover support

Closing out the scope: taking part in testing, working through observations, and preparing handover documentation.

Scope of works

  • Participation in testing within our own works
  • Maintaining and closing the punch list
  • Remedial and completion works
  • Compiling as-built documentation

Interfaces

  • Client’s site supervision — how observations are raised and accepted
  • Commissioning team — testing schedule

Handover Scope handed over formally, with the punch list closed.

If the scope you need does not fit these stages, describe it in your enquiry. We will tell you whether and in what form we can take it on.

Scope split

Scope boundaries are agreed before anyone reaches site

If the split of works between contractors is not yet closed, this is the moment to talk. Later, every change costs time on site.
